Client: The Society of St John the Evangelist

Project: internal and external altar alterations and external refurbishment

“I first met James Etherington 12 years ago when he became site foreman here at St. Edward’s House during the early part of our rebuilding. Within a couple of years he had set up his own company and tendered competitively for our on-going renovations. He won the contract on many occasions and we were delighted to have him as the contractor. As time went on, he developed a real “feel” for the place and understood the complexities of working in a monastery, and made sure his subcontractors understood that too. He was always most helpful in every way, the work was always of a high standard, and he was more than happy to get stuck in himself to ensure everything was satisfactorily finished on time. It would be true to say that over the period of 12 years, he became a friend and advisor as much as a greatly valued contractor. I recommend him most highly.”
